Kicker Rock Diving – Scuba Diving at León Dormido, San Cristóbal

Our Kicker Rock Diving tour, dive into one of the most breathtaking dive sites on the planet. Kicker Rock, known locally as León Dormido, is a volcanic rock formation rising over 150 meters (500 ft) above the ocean, split into two vertical walls that form a natural channel teeming with marine life. This full-day Kicker Rock diving tour takes you to the heart of the Galápagos Islands for two unforgettable dives among hammerhead sharks, sea turtles, eagle rays, playful sea lions, and, with a bit of luck, Galápagos sharks and whitetip reef sharks. After diving, the tour continues to Cerro Brujo, a stunning white-sand beach where you can enjoy a walk, photography, and snorkeling before sailing back along the coastline to Puerto Baquerizo Moreno.

Itinerary

07:00 – 07:30 | Pick-up & check-in
Meet at the departure point in Puerto Baquerizo Moreno. Safety briefing, gear check, and assignment of PADI-certified dive guides.

08:00 | Navigation to Kicker Rock
About 45 minutes by speedboat/panga to the rock formation, with views of the San Cristóbal coastline along the way.

09:00 – 09:50 | First dive
Descent along the channel between the two rocks. Average depth 15–25 m (50–80 ft). Moderate currents possible. Frequent sightings: schooling hammerhead sharks, eagle rays, green sea turtles, tuna, and sea lions.

10:00 – 11:00 | Surface interval
Rest on the boat, snack and hydration, and dive debrief with the guide.

11:15 – 12:00 | Second dive
Exploration of the outer wall and shallower areas. Great for underwater photography: pufferfish, moray eels, lobsters, and large schools of pelagic fish.

12:30 – 13:30 | Lunch
Box lunch or beach lunch (depending on the operator), including tropical fruit and typical Ecuadorian dishes.

14:00 – 15:15 | Cerro Brujo
Short navigation to Cerro Brujo, a pristine white-sand beach backed by dramatic volcanic cliffs. Free time to walk the shoreline, take photos, and snorkel in calm, clear waters home to sea lions, marine iguanas, and reef fish.

15:30 | Return to Puerto Baquerizo Moreno
Scenic return navigation close to the coastline, with a chance of spotting dolphins or seabirds along the way.
